Operative Provisions of the Resolution
Approved by the Kairos Ohio State Committee
on August 30th Regarding Ohio’s Reinstated
USPS Correspondence Program Between
Kairos Inmate Grads and Kairos Volunteers
Taken from Minutes of the August 30, 2003 Meeting of the Kairos Ohio State Committee
1. The P.O. Box for future letter writing will be changed from the present Kairos box. The new P.O. Box will be used as the return address for any correspondence responding to a resident’s letter. (this new P.O. Box is “P.O. Box 721, Westerville, OH 43086” )

2. All Kairos volunteers will be instructed in training that they are never to make a “mass mailing” to Kairos graduates, such as may occur as a result of a street weekend. The approved method for lifting up those from a particular weekend is, and always will be, through prayer. As a result of prayer, any volunteer can send an individual letter of mature support to any Kairos graduate.

3. Kairos Ohio develop a training module for team formation regarding letter writing to be included in the “All-Volunteer Continuing Education Program.”

4. If a Kairos graduate writes to a volunteer, the volunteer will respond, at least, with a letter stating that they can not keep up regular correspondence, but will pray for them. If the volunteer is willing to maintain a mature supportive prayerful correspondence by replying to letters sent, never sending any gifts (stamps, envelopes, etc.) that will be acceptable as in previous practice. This should discourage the development of a dependant friendship beyond mature Christian agape support and encouragement.
